Finn and I were leaving the movie theatre when we ran into a incredibly colorful and textured sunset. Even this picture does not do what was much more colorful justice. I wish my camerphone was a little better for quality.

John Doe - Continental Club - 3.17.05
So, I just created a flickr group and invited folks at Redeye and Yep Roc to join in. Someone (I think Emily) posted some photos up to the group. Look what I found! John Doe rockin the clover shades at our St. Patrick's Day show at the Continental Club at SXSW in 2005! Older photos, and evidence that there is plenty of history hidden in the cameras and phones out there that need more than one home.

Park West Nick Lowe Show
Park West is an awesome club. It was built in the 20's but has been outfitted with top notch sound system and cool leather booth seating. Outside it looks a bit like Camelot with a Star Wars storm trooper bar flair. hmmm.
Great show!! Nick encores were awesome. Nick and Ron have been performing Louvin Brothers in the encore.

The Ark . Ann Arbor Nick Lowe & Ron Sexsmith
The Ark is Ann Arbors songwriters club. It is a good room for listening.. they won't put up with any chit chat. The cops came in a took a particularly rowdy fella and ejected him. I heard him hit the ground mid set. I sat with the George Jones, (Borders CEO) Andy Sibray (Music Buyer Borders), Chris Richards (WEA), Pat (DVD buyer for Borders) .

Liam Finn in Atlanta
On Wednesday I flew down to Atlanta from NYC to witness in person the young and talented songwriter/ film maker/ rocker/ photographer/ multitasking music master LIAM FINN play at the Tabernacle in downtown Atalanta. We invited a great cast of customers and music biz folks out to check him out. Some of them made it back stage after the show to meet Liam. (he's the bearded boy in the middle)
Liam Finn opened the show taking the stage before Pete Yorn, and the main event Crowded House. Liam also sits in with Crowded House playing guitar and singing Harmony with pappa Neil Finn.
Good times! Back home today!!

NYC from top the Empire State Building
Left Boston this afternoon and spent Sunday late afternoon checking into NYC and taking a walk down to Madison Ave. There was no line at the Empire State Building so I went up top and took in the views N E S W. Here a pic looking North. You can see the GE building just in front of central park. It was a very clear day and close to dusk so the views were long and very nice.

BOSTON MA
After the cruise night I packed up and drove with a new music distribution friend Lou Mansdorf. Lou works for Fontana Distribution and travels the Mass Pike on a regular basis out to Albany for a TWEC sales call. It did not take much convincing to bag the flight from Albany to Boston via JFK for a 3 hour drive from Albany with Lou. Lou Dropped me off at Newbury Comics just in time to meet with the Newbury Comics buying honchos Dave Bluestein, and Larry Mansdorf (no relation to Lou)
I took Larry and Lou out to dinner and we hung out in Inman Square area of Somerville * my old neighborhood when I lived in Boston. The next day I visited the stores and had an awesome time strolling Boston. Here is a picture of Newbury Comics on Newbury Street.

My Pics On My Way To The Office
Hopefully with this post I will learn to insert a picture into the body of the post. so here goes..
MY WAY TO THE OFFICE
So I leave my house with my boy Brint who I drop off a Cedar Ridge High School on the way.
Here he is joyfully wagging his tail as we are ready to board my car.
Next we drive past a some low fog in the early AM on the NC back roads ... and some old farm house fixer upper charm.
So here I arrive at Redeye HQ Haw River NC. Walkin' up.
what is Redeye?
Like our fax machine? Complete and powered on by a John Doe overlord pictorial (you know the famed LA punk rocker of X). Very nice.
Now our foyer memorabilia case below: Chuck D autograph of Public Enemy pics + Flavor Flav signed clock, Australian garage rockers Radio Birdman signed disc, original cartooned Robyn Hitchcock LP jacket, 6 NARM award bowls (proud), and you can see the top of Casey Kasum's head. ... on and on.
And last but not least, a quick pit stop into the sales office and a chat with indie sales manager Rusty King (key'n in the early morn orders)... Then off to my den of work place.
The End. Ta dah!!!

Keep it Up
So.. I continue to try my blog. Yesterday I added Twitter to my blog. I am going to try to make use of it on my road trip across the country visiting records stores and customers later this month. I tested it a few times to see how it works and found it pretty easy to use. I leave on Friday. The plan is to Twitter and Flickr throughout the trip. I've tried a couple of Flickr uploads and it's pretty easy too. I hope to blog post the pictures of the stores and the shows as I travel from City to city. First stop is a flight to Portland OR to hook up with with Terry Currier and friends to see Liam Finn open for Crowded House. More on that later.
Oh, I also took some pictures of my two boys. You can see them in the flicker widget to the right. The older boy is Brint (whimsical thinker) and Finn (action packed).

Sunday Milltown Pressure Wash
Milltown cleanup: Today was supposed to be an an early wake up call. My early rise was meant power wash the the grease and grime off the kitchen area outdoor drains, walls, and wash down the outdoor storage shed and beer coolers at our bar and restaurant in Carrboro NC, Milltown. I got up late. Kim and Josh did get to the bar early and and stained the outdoor patio picnic tables. We just received two new medium sized picnic table to accompany the two already out on the patio. They also rearranged the aluminum four top tables and chairs to make room for these two new larger tables that hold up to 12 people per table. I did make it to the bar an hour later at 10AM. It was very hot today so it made for a very sweaty pressure. I had head out to Lowes to get things started as the pressure washer valve sprung a leak and needed a replacement. While at Lowes I picked up some outdoor plants for the three large flower box benches. Kim will plant them in tomorrow. Anyway, all was cleaned up thanks to the heavy duty grease removal detergent. I blasted the crud off the walls for about and hour and one half.
Milltown new games: Kim picked up Brint and Finn and went shopping for board games Toys R Us while I powerwashed. Our Milltown customers like to play the board games while enjoying the bar and restaurant. They brought them back to Milltown and unwrapped them and stacked them in the front room shelves. New games I saw come in. Uno, Shoots and Ladders, Cribbage, 20 Questions, 80's Trivia Pursuit, Touble, Etch A Sketch, and a couple decks of cards.
We played one of the games after the cleaning session. We sat at one of the front tables and played Trouble. I think everyone at my age remembers Trouble from the Pop O Matic and the plastic board. What I did not remember is that it is nearly impossible to complete this game with four players. You are destined to get bonked back to "home" and never end the game. I also was surprise at how loud the Pop O Matic is. The Pop O Matic is the plastic bubble that is situated in the middle of the board and you press it to bounce the die inside the bubble. We played for a long time but eventually had to call it quits as we would have been days for a winner to get his pieces into the finish line.
